1 – More than a decade after October Tide’s second album, we had the pleasure of hearing a new release, “A thin shell”. What made you come up with it? I read that you had the idea of reviving the band since the beginning of last year. Having such urge within was one of the aspects that made you feel you couldn’t stay in Katatonia?

i´ve thinking of bringing back OT for a few years but never really got the time. in 2008 we didn´t tour that much with katatonia and I felt really inspired so I began to write. OT was ofcourse only meant to be as a sideproject and was not the reason why I left katatonia, it was for other personal reasons. I would never have left katatoina if I didn´t really had to

2 – This is a superb album that covers different scenarios although maintaining a certain melancholy and nostalgia. Hearing it it’s clear none of the magic of before was lost. Did you start composing songs for this Cd before or after leaving Katatonia? Was it easy for you to compose or did you had to stand long nights with heavy doses of coffee? Saying it because after participating on Katatonia’s last Cd it may have been a bit tiring for you… or not. Creating art is more of a pleasure not that much of a tiring effort, right?

I began to write these songs before leaving katatonia. we even started to record this album before katatonia went into the studio to record their latest record. it actually was quite easy to compose even though I wrote mostly at night, that´s because i´ve 2 crazy daughters;) so writing at nighttime was almost necessary to get something done…..but I really like it, i´m often up at night even when i´m not playing or composing.

3 – Why that title? When I first read it I felt it could also be something regarding your two bands, that the melodic and lyrical creative aspect wasn’t that different… But that’s me, a fan of those two bands imagining... Anyway, could you tell us what the lyrics are about?

i´m actually not 100% sure about the lyrics, but some of them are about one vulnerabal group in soceity.....so i leave it to the fans to think about

4 - The cover represents in a great way the title. It also seems a crystal ball which made me think that our idea of an apocalyptic future may be more certain than ever… Do you believe in the 2012’s prophecy? Anyway, tell us what the idea behind the cover is… It connects with the lyrics a bit. it can be a thin line…or shell… between many things like happiness/sadness…..angry/happy.. I don’t believe in prophecys and I would never have the time to think about them anyway

5 - Having already released “A thin shell” in less than a year after leaving your previous band it seems it was relatively easy for you to find suitable musicians. Nevertheless, why are some of them “session”? Do you wish to find less occupied musicians or will you maintain the band as it is? I asked jonas kjellgren to record the bass since it would have sounded terrible if I did it. I had at the time no permanat bassplayer. later on we brought in Johan jansson on session bass, he is quit busy with all his other bands so we kept looking for a bassplayer. we´ve now Pierre Stam from in mourning as a permanat bassplayer. so we are now 5 permanat members in OT

6 – Being more of a band, will October Tide be performing a lot more on stage?  How does the chemistry feel right now? it feels very good, we are all eager to rehearse and all that. we have a few gigs planned this autumn/winter, a few in Sweden, Romania and probably a shorter tour in finland next year

7 – Candlelight was the label that released this third album. Did you sent any promo to different labels and chose it afterwards or were you contacted first by that label? Do you believe you can have a good promotion and good reviews worldwide? I send out a few songs and candlelight was one of the labels who replied. almost all the reviews i´ve read so far has been over expectations, I thought people should hate the new album but no;) I hope candlelight does a good job.

8 – Thanks for answering. Tells us your tidal words for the autumnal season… Keep the spirit inflamed! thanx for you interest. give this new updated version of OT and the new album a chance. play it load and cheers
