Amon Amarth “ The Crusher “

This is violence driven into cruelty, harmony glowing into ecstasy, madness uncontrolled... Ok! Amon Amarth could mean "The mountain of doom" (taken from the novel "The lord of the ring" by J.R.R Tolkien) but, for me, they resemble more like “ The colossus of destruction “ as this third release of them rides that same melodic Death formula that they have granted us before on their other releases... It isn’t something one hasn’t heard before and I’m certain that if they had appeared some 5 years before ( ... strange, I have read the same comment about some other bands... hehe ) with this cd, they would take the underground by storm! Nowadays, they join the forces of really great Death bands hailing from Sweden...
Having 9 bloody tormenting songs ( there’s one other, “Eyes of horror”, as a bonus track being a Possessed cover recorded and released on a tribute album last year ) inflaming us with a fiery strength above all religious hypocrisy which rules this so vile world in which one wanders through, one is captured by their flowing brutality as each song annihilates us with a never ending greed... It seems there’s no escape to their wrath as Amon Amarth prooves to have come up with a grinding release that put to shame all their previous ones...
The future of metal may pass through some odd experimentalism with industrial bits and other musical genre yet, one may be sure that, as long there’s some bands like Amon Amarth coming up with such fantastic brutal releases, drinking as much beer as possible and puking around, we’ll gladly ‘bang our heads around for knowing that there are still some bastards out there that will always keep the metal’s flame burning...
