Old Man’s Child “ Revelation 666 – The curse of damnation “

Impressive!!! That’s one word I can use to describe this outfit’s fourth Cd... A good, strong release that shows Old Man’s Child with a new breath now that they have once more a full line – up... This is Black/Death/Doom at its best!!!! Joining the vocalist/guitarist and founder Galder ( which is also now the Dimmu Borgir’s guitarrist after the departure of Astenu and Acheron ), there’s the bass player Memnoch, drummer Grimar and two other members that had been already in this band: Tjodalv on drums ( he of Dimmu Borgir fame being used as a session member on the faster tracks ) and Jardar on guitar...
This is why I consider this Old Man’s Child release quite impressive: Cold tenebrous riffs, haunted and malignant, sometimes heroic, keyboards, harsh vocals that crush you with winter’s damnation, an infernal architecture made bass lines, tormented and diabolical drum rhythms that makes you sweat... Nevertheless, I think it could be a bit better than it is... You know, I’m só fucking tired of listenning to so many bands alike... and I still remember their first release, “ Born of the Flickering “ some years ago! A masterpiece for this writer’s ears!
What more can I say? This is nothing too much original nowadays, in fact it remembers me a lot of Dimmu Borgir’s sound and yet it’s really much more appealing than this last band’s current Cd, “ Spiritual Black Dimensions “ which disapointed me a lot...
This isn’t the final stage for Old Man’s Child!!! For sure they will bring us, in the years to come, even more stronger releases than this... Anyway, check it out and discover another meaning for the word impressive!!!
