My Dying Bride “ Songs of darkness, words of light “

As we walk through the path of a trembling melancholy, a tear rolls down our face, a bitter smile grasping for air, echoing night’s drama even in our dreams… These are the weary steps towards our final rest, a cold and faithless symphony that only the damned can hear… How sweet it becomes when we realize it is My Dying Bride’s own portrait of what lies in the dark that guides us…
It doesn’t take long to discover how a faithless agony and a shadowed pleasantry may visit our soul and take our will, force us to lie down and walk through the grieving landscapes that only this band can portray. A romantic parade that carries all that haunts our saddest dreams and still makes us believe there is more than songs and words… Our soul rises when needed to rise and falls when needed to fall…
Those who carry within a certain knowledge of what My Dying Bride is all about, may be glad to know that they still portray all that has made them sit high upon Doom – Metal’s throne as one assists to a raging fury grow from time to time although there’s still a grieving ambience reminding us of what Sadness really means as Aaron lead us through his heartfelt monologues and blackish chants from time to time… An atmosphere of almost religious appeal considering their status…
I consider this to be among the most brilliant jewels Doom – Metal has to offer, a masterpiece that puts to shame, in my humble opinion, some of their previous works ( The dreadful hours, 34, 788%.. Complete, Like gods of the sun ) and although it still denotes some influences of the same cds, it portrays a more eerie atmosphere, a somewhat claustrophobic appeal…
With this new opus they welcome a new member to their line – up, Sarah Stanton as a keyboard player, she that had already played live with them after the previous keyboardist, Yasmin Ahmed, left.
The artwork was designed by Andy Green (who also designed the cover for Like Gods of the Sun). A ghastly conception of a bittered anguish, a fallen angel screaming her pain in a garden of palled hope… Nevertheless, it could be one of us when closing our eyes…
Inspiration is known as a praise to Art and, although they still follow the same path built years ago, it simple puts tragedy and agony in all that Man has built … for what are dreams than shadowy images of our desires?
The melancholic fields await… Just smile, even if it is a saddened smile, for… the melancholic fields await…
