Inhumate “ Growth “

Well, maybe this isn’t a surprise for some of you, but I haven’t heard any Cd previously released by this Death/Grind band that raised from Hell on September 1990, so I can’t really proclaim the level of their “ Growth “. Anyway, this is their third one, another step on their concept of Life that started on 1996 with “ Internal Life “ ( an illustration of the antenatal life ), 97’s “ Ex-Pulsion “ ( representing the moment of birth ), last year’s “ Growth “ ( the Cd that this review is all about ) and will be followed by “Maturity”, “The Fifth Season”, “Death” and “Eternal Life” ( a final step where one contemplates the end of life on Earth of all human race and a passage towards the infinite ).
Do you feel sane enough to hear this? Can you really say: “Oh! Feeling so happy that I’m used to the more perverted, disgusted, morbid, agressive, insane bands in the world like Inhumate... and my boring neighbour isn’t! “ hehe
This is a crucial phase on Inhumate’s career, where, after some other releases, one can trully say in which band’s scenario does this band belongs... Quality or quantity!!! Well, as I said before, I haven’t heard anything previous than this cd, anyway, it isn’t that that will impede me from stating my opinion! Yes, this trully belongs to the quality bands... Although, one can denote some parts where the risk of creating something original is very low, one can always be sure that this is filled with grinding blast beats, cruciating and nauseating rhythms (powerful enough to irritate you neighbour... hell, the whole world hehe ), devouring and deformed vocals that keep on rotating from growls to screams like if they were on a never ending parody of life where at one point one could be sad or angry... From time to time, I sensed influences from Brutal Truth, Nile, Napalm Death (old) and even Fear Factory ( not their industrial side but their rhythmic parts )... Put those on one shell and knowing they have had a stable line – up since late 94, what can we expect than a really powerful band???
If you’re into Death/Grind don’t hesitate to grab this as it’s one of the most powerful bands that I’ve heard hailing from France... a country that hasn’t been, on my account, very prolific on quality ones... This cd could be only a bit more than half an hour, yet it has the potential, attitude and quality to be on the top shelves of your dazzling (is it?) Cd’s colection...
