Necromicon “ Peccata Mundi “

This band damns all holy treasures as Necromicom since 94 after changing from their previous monicker, Leprechaun. On that same fatidic year they’ve launched two demos ( “ When the sun turns black “and “ Through the gates of grief “ ), releasing in 96 the debut Cd “ Realm of silence “ and in 98 their second effort “ Sightveiler “.
After some line – up changes, not important for the time being, they’ve prepared new songs to release on their third Cd. Haven’t heard anything previously released by Necromicon, I was faced with a Death/Black outfit with some technical parts that, from time to time, appear with more atmospheric moments and lead melodies portrayed by a haunting church organ, which is a quite strange thing to hear, if you dare to believe... hehe
This Cd ( which was also released as a gatefold LP ) has all we could expect from a band influenced by the Gothemburg sound: blasting beats that seem to lie waiting to cut your flesh appart, cutting edge vocals drained from the most obscure abyss, razor rhythms that sting you with passionate violence, epic melodies that seem in need to win and conquer ( although, the church organ is still something awkward when heard ) and a somewhat classical atmosphere so to calm down those of faint hearts!
This isn’t something special that will lead you to new horizons but it’s interesting enough to captivate you for a while as you try to “ digest “ the eight tracks engraved on the CD! It seems they tried to build something original and, if we listen carefully, we could almost say it is! Nevertheless, I’ll sit and wait for the fourth Cd... Maybe, new surprises are to come...
