Finntroll “ Midnattens Widunder “

This is not a journey to the Fairies Land... This is pure Horror in Beauty where one stands motionless, captured by divine visions through an eerie atmosphere that has been envisioned by ancient folk tales that have much of morbid as of romantic... Do you see yourself wandering alone, a foul name for mockery’s jest, through a night of never ending nightmares? Do you really think you have the guts??? Finntroll has... and they do it their own way...
One can somewhat compare this band to Dimmu Borgir yet that is a pale comparison... One can hear some choirs that bring to memory, those used in Moonspell’s “ Wolfheart “ nevertheless Finntroll’s ones are far greater... One can rest assured that there is no rest here... To give you some (un)fair description, see it as a Death/Black outfit with a lot of folk influences, yet see it as original...
This band is from Finland but they prefer to use swedish on their lyrics instead of their native tongue or english... It only gives a plus to their sound if one consider the agressiveness of that language... Nevertheless, there’s also on the booklet a smal description of the lyrics in english for those who are curious about what they’re singing...
Although it’s hardly half an hour, Finntroll’s debut represents the epitome of what a debut should be as it doesn’t fall on a boring cliché as many bands nowadays do... When hearing it we can almost feel the putrid scent of rotting corpses laying by the shore of a thick black lake or the ghostly voices of ancient warriors that perished by the hands of lunatic monsters that riped earth’s bowels in the urge to conquer all...
Stand tall, walk proud and enter Finntroll’s world, where tales of ancient nightmares pursue even those who only dare to acknowledge tecnology as real...
